About: The Brexit negotiating period began on March 29, 2017 when the United Kingdom triggered Article 50 of the Lisbon Treaty, with official negotiations starting on June 19, 2017. General elections in June resulted in what is considered a weaker mandate for the current government, owing to a coalition government between the British Conservative party and the Democratic Unionist Party from Ireland. With a weaker mandate, a two year deadline and host of complicated issues to resolve, these negotiations are crucial to the UK’s economic future. This episode explores what is at stake for the UK and the EU, and what the potential outcome of a deal might look like.
